The demand for the full scale veterinary medical care of avian patients, together with the rapid rise of the number of pet birds significantly increased. There are several birds' diseases which can be transmitted to humans, they are zoonoses. The present article summarises the zoonotic aspects of Newcastle disease, influenza, equine encephalomyelitis (Eastern, Western), flavivirus-infections, rabies, tuberculosis, salmonellosis, yersiniosis, campylobacteriosis, chlamydiosis and some other diseases caused by bacteria, fungi and parasites, which can present potential hazards to humans.
