Abstract

A dynamic model of the proton-ion interaction is used in developing a microscopic approach to the description of thermal neutron scattering in KDP-type ferroelectrics. The neutron energy distribution shows two peaks, produced by coupled proton-phonon excitations. A distribution function is introduced for these excitations and it describes the interference of the neutron waves resulting from proton tunneling.
