Temperature dependent rate coefficient for the reaction of oh radicals with 2-methyltetrahydrofuran in gas phase

Abstract

One of the valorisation products of lignocellulosic biomass is 2-methyltetrahydrofuran (2-MTHF) which is a green solvent and a promising biofuel. Rate coeffcient for the reaction of 2-MTHF with OH radicals has been determined as a function of temperature by using the relative-rate kinetic method. The reaction obeys the Arrhenius law and has a small negative temperature dependence. The following rate coeffcient expression has been determined: k1 = (3.88 ± 0.55) × 10-12 exp [(4.66 ± 0.36 kJ mol-1)/RT)] cm3 molecule-1 s-1 (T = 260-360 K).
