Abstract

The synthesis and mechanical properties of the potentially biodegradable poly(lactic acid)-toluene diisocyanate-poly(ethylene glycol)/poly(propylene glycol) (PLATDI-PEG/PPG) copolymers were studied. There is a close connection between the optimal conditions of the synthesis and the mechanical properties, which were investigated in detail. The tensile characteristics of the copolymers were compared with those of commercially available foils. The carbon fiber reinforcement of these new biodegradable block copolymers is also reported.
