Abstract

From 1985 salvage retroperitoneal lymphnode dissections were performed for removal of retroperitoneal residual tumor in patients with advanced seminomatous testicular tumors (UICC stage II/B bulky and stage III), after 4 courses of PVB inductive chemotherapy. 15 patients (15%) of all patients referred to retroperitoneal lymphnode dissection up to 1993 have undergone salvage surgery. 80% of them were in UICC II/B bulky stage. In 47% of patients active cancer was found in the retroperitoneal rest. The authors were successful in resection 87% of residual tumor and reaching an 80% of NED survival after a mean follow-up of 6 years.
