Quality control and classification of camomilla oils with the oxygen-sensitive flame-ionization detector

Abstract

The application of the Oxygenate Analyzer (O-FID) developed for the selective determination of oxygenated compounds has been studied for the quality control and classification of camomilla oils. In comparison to FID detection the O-FID results in a simpler chromatogram and a much higher sensitivity for the characteristic oxygenated compounds. On the basis of the O-FID chromatograms, by measuring the relative peak areas of the characteristic compounds, the camomilla oils can be classified and the oils of unacceptable quality unambigously distinguished.
