Abstract

It has long been known that the magnitude of renal enlargement following unilateral nephrectomy is age-dependent, namely the hypertrophic response of the remaining kidney appears to decline with the age at which unilateral nephrectomy is performed. The aim of the present study was to compare the age-dependent characteristics of normal and hypertrophic renal growth in rats using a mathematical approach.
