The authors investigated the dehydration of the tert-butanol in an isothermic reactor, filled with alumina catalyst. It was verified that the secondary decomposition of the tert-butanol producing acetone and methane began at t greater than equivalent to 663 K. The optimal conditions of the reaction were determined by the mathematical description of the tubular reactor, and the optimum conditions were verified by tests.
