Gaia hypothesis and atmospheric aerosol

Research output: Article

According to Lovelock's Gaia hypothesis atmospheric gases are under biospheric control. In recent years this theory was extended to atmospheric aerosol by postulating that aerosol particles in the air as well as physical processes regulated by them (e.g. atmospheric solar radiation transfer, cloud and precipitation formation) are controlled more or less by the biosphere. The aim of this paper is to discuss this possibility in some detail.
