A doxycyclin-kezelés hatása terhességben

Research output: Article

Objective: To study the effect of oral doxycycline treatment during pregnancy for pregnancy complications and delivery outcomes particularly preterm delivery/birth. Methods: The newborn infants without congenital abnormalities in the data set of the population-based Hungarian Case-Control Surveillance of Congenital Abnormalities, 1980-1997 were evaluated. Results: Of 38.151 newborn infants, 78 had mothers with doxycycline treatment during pregnancy. Their mean gestational age was 39.8±2.0 weeks compared with the figure of 39.4±2.0 weeks in untreated women. The proportion of preterm birth was 3.8 % versus 9.2 % in the treated and untreated groups. The possible preterm preventive effect of doxycycline was found after the treatment in the first and second trimester of pregnancy. Conclusions: Treatment with doxycycline during the first and second trimester of pregnancy can reduce the preterm birth associated with acute infectious maternal diseases of the genital organs.
