Abstract

Physical aging takes place in amorphous polymers as a result of heat treatment, this way the fracture mechanical properties of the material change. The change was determined with the help of Essential Work of Fracture theory (EWF). Good correlation was found among the yielding related specific essential work of fracture (we,y) in case of amorphous polyester, the yield stress (σy) used in practice suitable for the determination of aging and the extent of enthalpy relaxation measured with DSC technique.
