Research output: Article

Prostaglandins E1 and E2 have been studied for their effect on platelet aggregation in vitro. PGE1 proved a highly potent, PGE2 a slightly less potent inhibitor of platelet aggregation. The two prostaglandins were also studied in combination with drotaverine the inhibitory activity of which against ADP induced platelet aggregation had been found to function at high concentrations only. Both combinations revealed a potentiating synergism in vitro resulting in a total reversal of platelet aggregation at concentrations which are ineffective when the drugs are applied by themselves.
