Abstract

The authors describe the cryopreservation of epididymal spermatozoa from Black Racka rams. The testicles in scrotum were collected at slaughterhouse and stored on 5 °Celsius for 24 hours for simulate field conditions. The spermatozoa from caudae epididymides were diluted by Andromed extender and cooled to 5 °C and equilibrated for 2 hours. The straws were frozen in nitrogen vapour and stored on 196 °C. After thawing the percentage of motile cells was 60.86±5.44 and progressive motility was 52.86±6.12%. The ratio of cells with intact head and tail membranes and intact acrosome was 39.9±6.51%, which is very important as quality measurement. Further experiments are planned for Al with cryopreserved epididymal spermatozoa in Racka sheep.
