The conductance of palladium-nanojunctions in hydrogen environment was investigated. Two hydrogen-related atomic configurations which have conductance of ∼0.5 and ∼1 quantum unit, were obtained. From phonon spectrum measurements, it was observed that these configuration were situated between electrodes containing dissolved hydrogen. The crucial differences and the possible microscopic realization of the palladium-hydrogen atomic sized contacts were also investigated.
