Abstract

Body surface potential mapping /SPM/ is a well known method for studying of cardiac electrical fields. Recently, for the description of heart generated mechanical vibration fields the surface acceleration mapping /SAM/ method was introduced. The aim of the study was to investigate correlations between the electrical and mechanical events of the cardiac cycle. The applied computer-aided non-invasive method offers all the information available on the chest surface, and does not apply oversimplified models like the dipolar approach in ECG. Important systolic time relationships and map patterns as well as their biophysical interpretations are described.
