Abstract

Ionization probabilities per electron for the L shell and seperately for the 2s and 2p subshells of neon in 5.5 MeV u Ne3+-, Ne10+-, and Ar6+ - Ne collisions were determined. Significant differences between the vacancy production and ionization probabilities in the L shell have been found indicating the non-negligibility of excitations to higher shells in these processes.
