We determined anticorneal antibody titers in 39 patients. The titer values rose after transplant surgery and became negative 2 years later. In the keratoconus cases we could never demonstrate anticorneal. antibodies before the operation; one year later, however, they all yielded positive results. The postoperative sequence of appearance, rise, disappearance of the anticorneal antibody titer seems to be regular, but we could not find any relation between these events and the opacification or lasting transparency of the transplant.
