A general theory of optimal elastic design for structures with segmentation

Abstract

Optimal plastic design of segmented structures is reviewed and then general statickinematic optimality criteria are introduced for segmented elastic structures. The proposed theory is illustrated with beam and plate examples and the results are checked by independent calculations.
