3D measurement system for car deformation analysis

Abstract

Nowadays many applications require for their processing knowledge about the shapes of objects. In a lot of cases, the shapes to be acquired can have the kind of segments for which measurement is difficult, because of the occlusion problem. Shapes with such properties can be observed on crashed car bodies for example, where the deformation can be of complex shapes. In this paper a new measurement system is introduced, the aim of which is to accurately acquire the deformed parts of a car body and obtain useful information supporting car deformation analysis.
