Water quality in Hungarian rivers

Abstract

The aim of the paper is to present a general overview of the quality of waters in the streams of Hungary, of the past and expected future changes thereof. A part of this broad complex is considered. Analytical results on seven components are used to describe the state and changes of water quality. The causes of changes in water quality are considered, the quality situation anticipated for the years following the turn of the century is outlined, identifying therefrom the criteria which must be observed in order to prevent the deteriorating trend of the past decades from continuing. -from Authors
