Volume and surface phase holographic gratings in the photorefractive crystal Bi2TeO5

Abstract

A description of volume and surface phase holographic gratings in the photorefractive crystal Bi2TeO5, was given.The maximal diffraction efficiency of the order of 14% with exposure time of 45 minutes was observed. Diffracted signal decayed with the relaxation time of several minutes, when reference beam was blocked. Nanoscale surface gratings (with period 195 nm) were detected using atom force microscope.
