Visual detection of lane geometry and obstacles to enhance vehicle's safety

Abstract

This paper presents the development of an experimental system for the visual detection of unintended lane-departuress. Edge detection algorithms, which are used to recognize lane geometry, and which are the basis of the detection of lane-departure, are summarized. Stereo vision, which is used to detect of a three-dimension obstruction in the lane ahead of the vehicles, is also summarized.
