Vibrational spectra of BaCd(HCOO)4 · 2H2O

IR and Raman spectra of BaCd(HCOO)4 · 2H2O have been recorded and analyzed. Observation of three separate frequencies for every internal mode of the formate ion is indicative of three crystallographically nonequivalent formate ions. The frequency of the in-plane CH bending mode is found to be higher than the symmetric CO2 stretching mode. The correlation field effect is observed to be small.
