Variable true time delay realized with acousto-optics and liquid crystal spatial light modulator

Abstract

Optical heterodyne acousto-optic delay line applying frequency dependent phase shift provided by liquid crystal spatial light modulator is presented. We experimentally demonstrate continuously variable true time delay of 1 μs long microwave pulses between +/-300 ns.
