Abstract

It has been found that tin adsorption takes place with significant underpotential value on palladium surfaces. The site requirement of the adsorbed tin is about 2. Two oxidation peaks can be found in the voltammograms of the Snads/Pd electrodes. Part of the adsorbed tin remains on the Pd surface even after the second (the more positive) oxidation peak. Adsorbed tin can be deposited onto Pd surface via ionization of presorbed hydrogen, and via catalytic disproportionation of Sn2+ ions, as well.
