Ultrastructural localization of acid phosphatase in the neurohypophysis of the rat

Abstract

In the neurohypophysis of the rat, acid phosphatase is located in the lysosomes of pituicytes. These organelles contain lipid droplets which increase in number and size and distend them so that they lose their usual aspect while preserving their phosphatase activity.
