Based on quantitative evaluations it was observed that 4 and 14 days after ivariectomy, as well as 2 months after hypophysectomy, the larger granulated vesicles (70-110 nm in diameter) in the nerve terminals of the vascular organ of the lamina terminalis (OVLT) almost disappeared. The findings are consistent with the view that the OVLT may play a role in the control of pituitary gonadotrophic function.
