Abstract

The authors describe two cases of Pasteurella aerogenes induced swine abortion. The bacteria were found in all of the examined 6 foetuses and also in the placenta in one of the abortion cases by immunohystochemical examination. The histological lesions were characteristic for bacterial infection. Pasterurella strains were isolated from 4 foetuses and from the placenta. The strains were identified as P. mairii/P. aerogenes with biochemical methods, which proved to be P. aerogenes with sequence analysis.
