Two cases of mycotic equine abortion are reported. The abortion occured in the 9th month of gestation in the first case and in the 7th month of gestation in the second case. Chronic necrotic purulent placentitis accompained by calcification was found in the allantochorion at the cervical star in both cases. Multiplex focal chronic granulomatous inflammation with a diameter of 0, 5 to 4 cm was also seen in the lungs in the second case. The hyphae were sparse in the allantochorion in the first case, but they were abundant in the allantochorion and in the lungs in the second case. It was not possible to isolate the fungi. According to their morphology, the fungi were identified as a member of the class of Zygomycetes in both cases. No other reason for the abortion was found in the two cases.
