Abstract

One of the possible reasons of infertility and threatened abortion could be the corpus luteum insufficiency. Two drugs, developed for the treatment of threatened abortion have been compared (microcrystallized progesteron administered vaginally and dydrogesteron administered orally) regarding the efficacy, side effects and compliance. One hundred and fifty-six patients admitted for threatened abortion to our department or seen at our outpatient department between 01.06.2003. and 30.08.2004. were treated randomly with the two drugs. As a result of treatment, changes in the symptoms of threatened abortion and in the level of serum human chorionic gonadotropin and presence of side effects were noted. One hundred and forty-nine patients were followed up to the 24th gestational week accepting the treatment to be successful in case of intact pregnancy. It was found that both medications were capable of decreasing the symptoms of threatened abortion successfully.
