Oesophageal rupture was induced in 18 dogs and the animals were divided into three groups according to the treatment of the wound. In the first group the wound was closed with the adhesive Histoacryl N Blau and Surgicel, in the second group with the same adhesive and a collagen preparation, while the wounds of the third group were sutured. Because of the inadequacy of suturing half of the animals in the third group died, while in the other groups every animal survived the operation. The adhesive plus Surgicel provided the most satisfactory closure of the wound.
