Abstract

Transmission of 3 keV Ne7+ ions through nanocapillaries etched in polymer foils was studied. Angular distribution of Ne7+ ions guided through nanocapillaries with a large aspect ratio was measured. Capillaries of 100 nm diameter were produced by chemical etching of ion tracks in a highly insulating foil of polyethylene terephthalate. Angular distributions provided clear evidence that the Ne7+ ions were guided within the capillaries.
