Time evolution of damage under variable ranges of load transfer

Abstract

The fiber bundle model was extended with variable range of interaction between fibers to the dynamic setting. As for the static version, two very different regimes were identified as the exponent of the stress transfer function varies. Numerical exploration of the damage spreading mechanisms under different load-transfer regimes further supported the results obtained for the lifetime of the system.
