Abstract

The thermal decomposition of azoisopropane (AIP) was studied by detailed product analysis. Besides the predominent termination and hydrogen-abstraction reactions of the 2-propyl radical the decomposition is characterized by a very short chain-process. The secondary reactions of decomposition were investigated and also the rate constants of hydrogen-abstraction reactions were determined.
