Authors discuss in a detailed way the results of studies concerning the possible relationships between the use of oral hormonal contraceptives and carcinomas of endometrium, ovary, uterine cervix and breast. They report that the continuous use of oral hormonal contraceptives do not increase the incidence of certain tumors of genital tract. According to our actual knowledge the anticoncipients have more advantageous effects than harmful consequences. In the United States the risk of delivery related lethal complications in women at least five times that of mortality because of the use of oral contraceptives. Beside the advantageous effects there are more and more evidences that the anticonceptives decrease the risk of ovarian cancer, cancer of uterine corpus, ectopic pregnancy, salpingitis and benign breast-disease. The pills might also have positive effect on the quality of life of the patients.
