The temperature dependence of the refractive indices of the bismuth tellurite (Bi2TeO5) crystal

Abstract

The principal refractive indices of the biaxial bismuth tellurite (Bi 2TeO5) crystal have been measured by the minimum deviation method in the visible wavelength range at temperatures between 5 and 215 degrees C. A linear temperature dependence of the refractive indices was found. The crossing angle of the optical axes has been determined. The parameters of Sellmeier's two-term dispersion formula have been determined with their temperature coefficients. The conditions for phase-matched second harmonic generation (SHG) are discussed.
