The study of back co-ordination in iron chelates by the mössbauer method

Abstract

The magnetic moments of the iron (II)- and cobalt (II)-dimethylglyoxime and those of the iron (II)-, cobalt (II)-, nickel (II)-complexes of salicylaldoxime and its 5-methyl, 5-chloro, and 5-nitro-derivatives were determined. The iron (II)-complexes of salicylaldoxime and of its derivatives are high-spin complexes, all the others low-spin complexes. The Mössbauer spectra of the iron complexes showed the existence of back co-ordination.
