The rotational spectrum of benzonitrile: Experimental and theoretical determination of the quartic centrifugal distortion constants

Abstract

The ground state rotational spectrum of benzonitrile has been reinvestigated in the range 18-160 GHz. High J transitions (J≤65) have been measured and accurate rotational and centrifugal distortion constants have been determined. The experimental quartic centrifugal distortion constants are compared with the values calculated from an ab initio force field. A good agreement is found.
