Abstract

A contamination of the perfusat in donor kidneys in 18% was found. Postoperatively a local infection in these cases developed in 35%, but without any connection with bacteria detected before. In conclusion we could not find a clinical relevance of contamination of the perfusat preoperatively and the postoperative outcome. The antibiotic prophylaxis in contaminated kidneys is recommended.
