Abstract

The authors demonstrate the role of the physico-chemical properties in the preparation of solid dosage forms (granules/pellets, capsules and tablets). The paper surveys the interactions between the surfaces during the processing and treatment of powders. The definitions of adhesion, cohesion and friction are given. Direct attention is drawn to the importance of the surface during the mixing of powders and the procedures of granule and tablet formation. Reference is made to the influence of the physico-chemical properties of the materials on the quality of the products.
