Abstract

Canonical MC computer simulations and theoretical calculations were carried out for a binary mixture of rodlike and disclike model molecules of short aspect ratios. In both investigations a destabilization of the ordered phases on mixing was found. When the ordered phases eventually become stable, demixing was observed instead of biaxiality.
