Abstract

A compact globular fragment was derived from papain digest of the Facb fragment of nonimmune rabbit IgG. The fragment is a glycoprotein with molecular weight 15250 and its tertiary structure has a substantial amount of β-pleated sheet. Based on its origin, antigenic specificity, sialic acid determination, physicochemical characteristics and functional behaviour, the fragment is most probably the intact Cγ2 domain of rabbit IgG.
