Abstract

By using X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electronmicroscopy, selected area electron diffraction and high resolution transmission electronmicroscopy it was found, that the unexpectedly high sulphur impurity in some commercial C60 product readily reacts with C60 during neutron irradiation producing C60S16. This compound can be regarded as a stable collecting form of the original undefined sulphur impurities.
