Abstract

Light and electron microscopic investigations of the parafollicular cells in the thyroid gland 6 wk or 14 mth after pinealectomy revealed an increase in their number and granularity. The cells seemed to be in a highly active condition. Data favoring a relationship between the function of the pineal gland and calcium metabolism are examined.
