The effect of gamma-L-glumatamyl-taurine (litoralon) on the amphibian metamorphosis

1. Prolonged litoralon treatment of Rana dalmatina beginning with stage 28 of its development accelerated the resorption of the tail fin, further shortened the body-length, and enhanced the appearance of the limb buds. 2. Beside this enhancement of early metamorphosis, litoralon retarded the ossification and reduced the spontaneous mortality during developmental stages 28-30 of the experimental animals.
