Abstract

Changes of EEG-activity of 10 patients with serologically proven tick-borne encephalitis have been investigated. The most common pathologic signs are the frequency reduction of the basic activity and groups of δ-waves with a frontal pregnancy. The pathologic activity of the EEG mostly coincides with the appearance of an organic-psycho-syndrome in the patients between 12 and 24 days after the tick-bite. Hypotheses on pathological mechanisms of transitory EEG-phenomena and their diagnostic significance are discussed on the basic of literature data.
