It was observed that in the case of a non-extinguishable conditioned reflex, set up in rats by means of electric shocks of 110 V, a long-lasting EEG arousal reaction appears under the influence of continuous or repeated conditioning stimuli. Some correlations between the permanent EEG arousal reaction and the permanent orientatory activity observed in connection with the active conditioned reflex have been suggested.
