The changes of the electron states depending on the depth of surface layers of Al-based alloys

The method of soft X-ray emission spectroscopy (SXES) offers the possibility to study the chemical bonding of the oxidation layer, and the complex oxide. In our investigation the corrosion states of the pure aluminium and the oxide wear-resistant layer of an Al-based alloy was studied. The surface layer from 10 nm to 550 nm was investigated. The corrosion states of the pure Al showed the changes of bondings and a change in concentration depending on the penetration depth of the corrosion processes. The studies of the wear-resistant oxide layers contain the measurements of the components of the alloy too. We present the systematic changes of the chemical components. The researches show the complex oxide and carbide compounds characterizing the layers which have good tribological parameters. Our results pointed out the important features for the technology to create wear-resistant layers.
