Abstract

Melatonin action increases the blood sugar level and, correspondingly, the insulin level. After sugar loading the blood sugar level does not differ from the control but the insulin level decreases. On this basis, it is probable that melatonin does not inhibit insulin secreting but decreases the resynthesis of insulin.
