Abstract

We measured the electric polarization induced by an alternating temperature gradient in the liquid crystal octyl-cyano-biphenyl. From the data the order-electric coefficient is estimated. It is found to be of the same order of magnitude as the flexoelectric coefficients, in accordance with the suggestions of Barbero et al.
